Jockey Michael O'Sullivan hospitalized after fall at Thurles
Jockey Michael O'Sullivan remains in intensive care at Cork University Hospital following a serious fall at Thurles Racecourse during a chase race on Thursday. The 25-year-old jockey was riding the favorite, Wee Charlie, when he was one of three horses to fall at the final fence, leading to the abandonment of the remainder of the race meeting. Medical teams on-site provided initial treatment before O'Sullivan was stabilized and airlifted to the hospital. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board confirmed that he is receiving the best possible care, and his family expressed gratitude for the well wishes from the racing community. O'Sullivan, a prominent figure in the sport, gained recognition for his successes at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023. Fans and fellow jockeys have been sending messages of support on social media as concerns grow for his recovery.
