Eddie Murphy to Star in George Clinton Biopic

Eddie Murphy is set to star as George Clinton in an untitled biopic directed by Bill Condon, marking their first collaboration since the Oscar-nominated 'Dreamgirls'. The film, initiated by lifelong Clinton fan Catherine Davis, is based on Clinton's memoir, 'Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?', and explores the tumultuous journey of the influential funk pioneer and his collective, Parliament-Funkadelic. The script is being crafted by Virgil Williams, updating an original draft by Max Werner, with production support from Murphy's own Eddie Murphy Productions alongside other notable producers. Clinton's music is credited with shaping genres from funk to hip-hop, and the film aims to capture his outlandish style and cultural impact. Condon is currently in post-production on another project, while Murphy continues to work with Amazon MGM Studios on various films.
