Airwallex Surpasses $1 Billion Annual Revenue, UK Drives Rapid Global Expansion

Airwallex, a global payments and banking platform, has surpassed $1 billion in annualised run rate (ARR) revenue, marking a significant milestone fueled by rapid growth and broadening geographic presence. The company took nine years to reach its first $500 million in ARR, but doubled that figure in just over a year, and at its current growth rate of around 90% year-on-year, it is projected to exceed $2 billion in ARR within the next 12 months. Growth has been particularly strong in the UK and EMEA region, with UK revenue rising 109% in the first half of 2025 and the company expanding its regional headquarters to accommodate this surge. Airwallex's client base includes "born-global" companies expanding internationally, with about half of its customers now using multiple products, driving deeper engagement and revenue. The company competes with major fintech players like Stripe and Ramp, leveraging a diversified product suite beyond payments, including business banking and spend management, and aims to build brand equity and trust globally. Despite being an outsider to Silicon Valley, Airwallex has achieved cash flow positivity and plans to reach profitability again by late 2025, positioning itself as a formidable fintech contender worldwide.
