UCLA Football Mutually Parts Ways Offensive Coordinator Amid 0-4 Season Start
UCLA football has decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri after a disastrous start to the 2025 season, during which the Bruins went 0-4 and ranked near the bottom nationally in scoring and offensive production. Sunseri, who was in his first season as UCLA's primary offensive coordinator after coming from Indiana, struggled to improve an offense averaging just 14.3 points per game and 321.3 yards per game, prompting the coaching change. Tight ends coach Jerry Neuheisel, son of former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel, will now take over play-calling duties as the Bruins prepare to host No. 7 Penn State. This move follows the earlier dismissal of head coach DeShaun Foster and defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe, reflecting a significant shakeup in UCLA's coaching staff in an effort to salvage the season. Quarterback Nico Iamaleava, who transferred from Tennessee and was a key reason for his move due to UCLA's offensive system, has faced challenges with the offense, completing 81 of 124 passes for 788 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. The Bruins hope new leadership on offense can spark improvement as they continue a tough season in the Big Ten.
