Florida Teen Charged With Murder of Lyft Driver in Panama City Beach

A 17-year-old Florida teenager, Brayden Raul Gomez, has been charged with an open count of murder after fatally shooting a Lyft driver, William Robert McArthur, early Saturday morning in Panama City Beach. Gomez, who was a passenger in the Lyft, reportedly shot McArthur in the back of the head following a dispute where McArthur allegedly made disparaging remarks about Gomez being intoxicated, underage, and about his mother. After the shooting, Gomez pulled McArthur out of the car and attempted to resuscitate him, but the victim later died at a hospital. A witness reported seeing Gomez flee the scene while firing shots and scaling a fence; he was later apprehended on Dorothy Avenue. Blood and bullet holes were found in the victim's vehicle about 100 yards from where McArthur was found. Gomez was taken into custody and is currently held in the Bay County Jail as the investigation continues.
