Woman Charged With 25 Counts of Child Abuse

Roksana Lecka, a 21-year-old from Hounslow, has been charged with 25 counts of child abuse, including 12 counts of child cruelty, 12 counts of actual bodily harm, and one count of attempted grievous bodily harm, at Twickenham Green Montessori nursery in south-west London. Following an investigation that began on July 2, Lecka was remanded in custody and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on July 25. The nursery, which charges up to £1,900 per month and cares for children aged four and under, has temporarily suspended operations and placed children in nearby nurseries. The Metropolitan Police's Child Abuse Investigation Team is leading the inquiry in collaboration with the nursery, Ofsted, and local authorities. Detective Superintendent Ian Cameron emphasized the severity of the allegations and the swift response by the authorities. Lecka is scheduled to appear at Kingston Crown Court on August 21.
