Atlanta Teen Shot Dead After Mistaken Identity At Home
A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed early Monday morning in southeast Atlanta after being mistaken for a burglar inside his own home. Police reports indicate the teen was entering through the back door when a resident, believed to be his mother's boyfriend, opened fire thinking the boy was an intruder. The shooting occurred at a residence on Mulberry Row in the Glenrose Heights neighborhood, within a gated community called Monticello Park. The shooter fled the scene before police arrived and is currently being sought for questioning, with potential charges pending. Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or the shooter. Investigators are treating the incident as a tragic mistake and continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
