The Sticky: A Fictional Crime Comedy on Amazon
The Sticky, a new series on Amazon Prime Video, is a fictionalized retelling of the infamous Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, where over $18 million worth of syrup was stolen from Quebec's reserves. The show centers around Ruth Landry, played by Margo Martindale, a maple syrup farmer who teams up with a security guard, Remy, and mobster, Mike, to plot a high-stakes heist. Inspired by real events, the series blends drama with dark comedy, emphasizing the absurdity of the situation while maintaining a serious tone. Jamie Lee Curtis, who also serves as a producer, makes a guest appearance. Although the series is based on actual events, it includes a disclaimer that it is 'absolutely not the true story.' The show explores themes of desperation and revenge, as Ruth tries to save her family farm from bureaucratic threats.
