Iconic Hobbit House in Los Angeles Listed for £1.95 Million

A unique property known as 'The Hobbit House' has been listed for sale in Culver City, California, for $1.95 million. Designed and built by Disney artist Lawrence Joseph over 30 years, the whimsical compound consists of nine dwellings that boast storybook architecture, nautical details, and fantasy-revival elements. The property features sloping roofs, leaded windows, and interior designs reminiscent of a Scottish sea captain's home, complete with galley-style kitchens and rope door handles. Declared a historic cultural monument in 1996, the property has a rich history, having housed Hollywood stars and been carefully maintained by Joseph until his death in 1991. It contrasts sharply with the surrounding urban environment, making it a charming anomaly in the heart of Los Angeles. The Hobbit House is now up for sale for the first time, having been passed down through Joseph's family.
