Oxnard Food Vendor Critically Injured in Train-Truck Collision

A Metrolink train collided with a tractor trailer in Oxnard on March 25, 2025, critically injuring a food vendor when debris struck her at her taco stand. The accident occurred around 7:15 PM at the intersection of Rice Avenue and Fifth Street, where the big rig was stopped on the tracks. The train, carrying 13 passengers, struck the trailer, launching debris in multiple directions; the vendor was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries and is currently in critical but stable condition. None of the passengers on the train suffered serious injuries, although two reported pain. Authorities have stated that alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the incident, which is still under investigation. The site has a history of serious accidents, prompting a new $134.5 million grade separation project to improve safety at the crossing.
