Aurora Police Shoot Man During Domestic Disturbance Investigation
Aurora police responded to a domestic disturbance call involving a married couple at a home on East Arkansas Drive, where the husband, aged 58, separated from his wife and went into the garage. While officers talked to him, he pulled out a handgun from a toolbox and, despite multiple orders to drop the weapon, pointed it at the officers, prompting one officer to shoot him. The man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The officer involved was placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. Independent investigations are underway, led by the 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team to determine if the shooting complied with state law, while the Aurora Police Department conducts an internal review of policy compliance. Authorities have asked for public assistance and tips related to the incident.
