Unity Campaign, Food Nonprofits Support Families Facing Hunger

Efforts to combat food insecurity are being highlighted across multiple communities in the U.S. The United Way of the Eastern Panhandle's Unity Campaign is supporting organizations like Berkeley County Meals on Wheels, which delivered 60,000 meals last year to homebound seniors, and aims to raise $50,000 this year to continue providing healthy meals. In Colorado, Kaizen Food Rescue has expanded its reach, serving over 400,000 families since its inception in 2020, and is experiencing a 15% increase in new clients. Meanwhile, the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York assists around 350,000 people monthly and partners with local farms to address food insecurity. Additionally, the Khan Ohana organization is working to provide nearly 300 food boxes to families during Ramadan, emphasizing community support during this significant time. These initiatives reflect a growing recognition of the ongoing challenges related to food access and the collaborative efforts to address them.
