Porter Airlines plans operations at Hamilton Airport

Porter Airlines is set to announce the start of operations at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) as part of a significant multi-million-dollar expansion. The announcement, scheduled for today at 11 a.m. (EST), is expected to enhance travel options for the region, particularly as past airlines like Flair, Play, and Swoop have struggled to maintain consistent service. A source indicated this investment by Porter is notably larger than previous airline launches in Hamilton. Currently, the airport only has limited daily flights from Play, Sunwing, and WestJet. TradePort International Corporation, which manages YHM, has plans to improve both passenger and cargo services following a $400-million agreement with the city. Hamilton International is the third-largest cargo airport in Canada, having facilitated 156,000 tonnes of cargo in 2021.
