Peters Township Student Charged With Stealing Giant Eagle Fuel Perks Data

Eighteen-year-old Paul Kostanich from Peters Township has been arrested and faces nearly 60 criminal charges related to the theft of Giant Eagle fuel perks information, amounting to over $677 in fraudulent transactions. Investigators reported that Kostanich accessed personal information of 19 victims through internet sites, including social media, to steal their fuel perks points. He allegedly used this information to redeem the points for his own gas at GetGo locations. Security footage captured him making purchases using a barcode scanner on his phone. In a confession to police, he admitted to conducting multiple fraudulent transactions. Authorities are examining whether Kostanich utilized the dark web to acquire the sensitive information.
