A significant fire broke out at Greece's second-largest oil refinery, operated by Motor Oil, located approximately 70 kilometers west of Athens, prompting an immediate evacuation of personnel and a large-scale emergency response. The blaze, which began around 6 PM local time, resulted in minor injuries to three contractor workers, who were treated at a local hospital. Eyewitness accounts reported explosions within the complex, leading to thick black smoke rising into the sky. Firefighters, including 60 personnel and 3 helicopters, were deployed to contain the fire, which was under control by the time of initial reports. Authorities issued a general emergency alert advising nearby residents to evacuate as a precaution. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
