The increase is attributed to continuous heavy rainfall in Nepal and surrounding Indian states, affecting rivers such as the Son, which is a major tributary of the Ganga. Kumar directed officials to implement immediate flood prevention measures and emphasized the necessity of constant monitoring of embankments to avert potential breaches. Meanwhile, the situation is compounded by rising river levels in other regions, including the Bagmati and Gandak rivers, which have also surpassed danger marks. The Patna Meteorological Centre has predicted further rainfall, which could exacerbate the flooding risks. Kumar's proactive stance aims to protect the city and its residents from possible flooding consequences.
