Heinrich Klaasen to Captain South Africa in T20 Series

Heinrich Klaasen has been appointed captain of South Africa's T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan, starting December 10, as Aiden Markram is engaged in Test matches against Sri Lanka. Key players Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, and Tristan Stubbs will also miss the T20 series due to their Test commitments but are expected to return for the ODI series later in December. Fast bowler Anrich Nortje and spinner Tabraiz Shamsi are making their returns to the T20 side after injuries and previous absences, while all-rounder George Linde returns to the squad for the first time in three years. The T20 series will take place in Durban, Pretoria, and Johannesburg, followed by a three-match ODI series against Pakistan and a two-Test series beginning December 26. Coach Rob Walter emphasized the squad's experience and balance, aiming to build on their domestic performances. The matches are crucial for preparation ahead of next year's ICC Champions Trophy.
