Two Women Arrested After Children Found in Shed

Tamara Stoiber and Sabine Thrift were arrested in Waldo, Florida, after two 5-year-old children were found locked in a shed without electricity, water, food, or a way to get help. Deputies responded to a call from a concerned citizen who found the children trapped behind a door blocked by a brick, with a large knife nearby. Stoiber, the mother, had left the children in the care of Thrift, their grandmother, who reportedly refused to supervise them while Stoiber ran errands for several hours. Thrift was charged with two counts of child neglect, and Stoiber faces two counts of child neglect and two counts of false imprisonment. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its commitment to child safety and encouraged the public to report suspected child neglect or abuse. Thrift and Stoiber are being held on $20,000 and $70,000 bonds, respectively.
