West Midlands Mayor Unveils £17bn Growth Plan Creating 100,000 Jobs

West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker has unveiled an ambitious Growth Plan aimed at transforming the region's £77 billion economy by adding over £17 billion and creating 100,000 skilled jobs in key industries such as advanced manufacturing, clean technology, health and medical tech, digital and creative sectors, and professional and financial services. The plan also focuses on improving public transport with a £2.4 billion investment, building 120,000 new homes, reducing poverty and deprivation, and advancing net zero goals. It promises increased support for business leaders, entrepreneurs, and everyday workers, aiming to boost living standards by putting an extra £8,600 into the pockets of working people. The Growth Plan emphasizes collaboration between local leaders, businesses, and government, with a commitment to consistent policies that support long-term economic stability. Mayor Parker highlighted the region's untapped talent, diverse population, and world-class universities as critical assets driving this growth. The initiative also prepares the West Midlands to host a global investment summit to attract further international business opportunities.
