Poulin Sets Record, Canada to Face U.S. in Final
Marie-Philip Poulin set a new Canadian record for career points at the IIHF Women’s World Championship with her 87th point in the semifinal against Finland, surpassing Hayley Wickenheiser. Poulin is now tied with Wickenheiser for most world championship appearances by a Canadian at 13 and ranks second all-time in tournament scoring behind Hilary Knight of the U.S. Canadian goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens became the winningest goalie in tournament history with her 22nd victory as Canada defeated Finland, fueled by a four-goal surge in under two minutes. Canada will face the United States in the final for the 23rd time in 24 tournaments. The U.S. advanced after a narrow win over the Czech Republic, with key plays from Kelly Pannek and Laila Edwards. Poulin continues to reinforce her legacy with both individual records and team success.
