Mitsubishi Plans Grandis Compact SUV Launch in Europe 2023

Mitsubishi Motors is reviving its Grandis nameplate for the European market with a new compact SUV based on the Renault Symbioz, assembled at Renault's Valladolid plant in Spain. The Grandis rides on the CMF-B platform shared by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and features Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield design, including a distinctive glossy black grille, restyled LED headlights, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Unlike the original seven-seat MPV, this new Grandis seats five and offers a spacious interior with advanced features like a panoramic glass roof, a 10.4-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital instrument cluster. Powertrain options include a mild hybrid (MHEV) 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine with manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions and a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) combining a 1.8-liter petrol engine with electric motors, providing multiple driving modes including full electric. Mitsubishi aims to strengthen its electrified vehicle lineup in Europe alongside the Outlander PHEV and upcoming Eclipse Cross BEV, targeting the growing compact SUV segment with a blend of Japanese design and French engineering through badge engineering.
