Magic: The Gathering Announces Final Fantasy Crossover

Wizards of the Coast and Square Enix have revealed an exciting collaboration for Magic: The Gathering, showcasing a set based on the Final Fantasy series, set to launch on June 13, 2025. This upcoming Universes Beyond crossover will encompass all 16 mainline Final Fantasy entries, featuring beloved characters such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Terra, and Lightning, alongside iconic monsters and weapons. The set is touted to include the largest collection of Final Fantasy artwork ever assembled in a single game, with contributions from both Magic and Final Fantasy artists. In addition to this collaboration, Wizards of the Coast is also focusing on revitalizing the Standard format with their new release, Foundations, which will serve as an introductory set without major mechanical themes. The Foundations set aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of gameplay mechanics across various colors, catering to both new and experienced players. This collaboration is part of a broader strategy to integrate major franchises into Magic: The Gathering, following previous partnerships with The Lord of the Rings and Marvel.
