Ford and GM Report Best U.S. Sales Since 2019

Ford and General Motors (GM) reported their best U.S. sales figures since 2019, with Ford's sales rising 4.2% to 2.08 million vehicles, and GM's increasing 4.3% to 2.7 million in 2024. Both companies benefited from strong demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and pickups, with Ford's F-Series remaining the top-selling truck in America for the 48th consecutive year, and GM retaining its leadership in full-sized pickups and SUVs. Ford's electrified vehicle sales, including hybrids and EVs, grew 38%, while GM's EV sales surged by 125%, doubling its market share. Despite the increase in EV sales, traditional combustion engines still made up the majority of Ford's sales. The automakers' improved inventory levels and strategic focus on diverse vehicle options fueled their momentum into 2025. However, Ford faces challenges in its EV division, including financial losses and production delays.
