Massachusetts Priest James B. Doran Dies After Milton Bicycle Collision

Father James B. Doran, a 68-year-old Catholic priest from Milton and member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary at the St. Joseph Retreat House, died after being struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle on Route 138 near the Blue Hills Trailside Museum. The accident occurred around noon on Wednesday, and Doran succumbed to his injuries at a Boston trauma center two days later. The driver, an 85-year-old man from Hyde Park, was not injured in the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Milton Police, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. The roadway was briefly shut down following the incident, and the SUV sustained front-end damage. No charges or citations have been reported at this time.
