Diapered Spider Monkey Escapes Plano Halloween Store

A pet spider monkey wearing a diaper escaped its owner inside a Spirit Halloween store in Plano, Texas, and was filmed swinging from rafters, climbing poles and crawling over displays while shoppers watched. Witnesses and a store employee said the primate appeared to have been spooked by an animatronic and evaded capture for about 30 minutes before Plano police responded and observed it in the rafters. No one was injured, no charges were filed, and the owner ultimately coaxed the monkey down with a cookie and secured it. Spirit Halloween said the animal was tagged and returned to its owner, and video of the incident went viral, drawing local and national coverage.
