Al Golden Wins 2024 Broyles Award for Top Assistant Coach

Al Golden, former defensive coordinator for Notre Dame, was awarded the 2024 Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in college football. His leadership contributed to Notre Dame's strong defensive performance, which included allowing just 15.5 points per game and achieving a national championship game appearance. After the season, Golden left Notre Dame to join the Cincinnati Bengals as their defensive coordinator. In his acceptance speech, Golden reflected on his time at Notre Dame, describing it as 'the greatest 1,000 days of my career' and credited the players for their achievements. Notre Dame has since appointed Chris Ash as Golden's successor to maintain the defense's high standards. Ash brings extensive coaching experience, previously serving as a defensive coordinator for several programs, including Texas and Arkansas.
