Trailer Released for 'Hand That Rocks the Cradle' Remake

20th Century Studios and Hulu released the trailer for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, a modern remake of the 1992 psychological thriller that will premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on October 22. The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as suburban mother Caitlin Morales and Maika Monroe as Polly Murphy, the nanny who infiltrates and terrorizes the family, with Raúl Castillo, Martin Starr, Mileiah Vega, Riki Lindhome and Shannon Cochran in supporting roles. It is directed by Michelle Garza Cervera and written by Micah Bloomberg from a screenplay by Amanda Silver. Producers include Michael Schaefer, Mike LaRocca and Ted Field, with Michael Napoliello, Maria Frisk and Seth William Meier serving as executive producers. Garza Cervera says the team rebuilt the story and characters to honor the original rather than simply redo it, and the trailer teases a tense, twist-driven thriller that nods to Rebecca De Mornay’s iconic villain as it arrives just ahead of Halloween.
