Multiple Child Homicide Charges Filed in Separate Cases

Destene Simmons has been charged with the decade-old murder of her 4-year-old son, Antwan 'A.J.' Hope, who was found dead in a Coral Springs apartment in 2013. Simmons, previously diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression, did not have custody at the time due to a history of mental health issues. In a separate incident, Kerri A. Bedrick from New York has been charged with drug and driving offenses following a wrong-way crash that killed her 9-year-old son, Eli D. Henrys, and injured three others. Additionally, Jalesia Offer and her fiancé, Brandon Wheatley, have been charged with the homicide of Offer's 6-year-old son, Brian Graham, in Baltimore. The boy was found with severe bruising and burns, and the death was ruled as caused by blunt force trauma.
