He built a glamorous social media persona, showcased in the 2016 Channel 4 documentary Rich Kids Of Instagram, which helped him gain victims' trust, including friends, family, and businesses. Watkin never purchased the handbags or delivered promised returns, instead funding an extravagant lifestyle with luxury hotel stays at The Dorchester, expensive shopping at Harrods, and chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce rides. Police investigations revealed that victims gave money believing they were investing, but Watkin used the funds for personal expenses, often making excuses to avoid repayment. He will face sentencing for both the fraud and separate child pornography convictions in September.
