EF1 Tornado Causes Damage Near Bangor, Pennsylvania
An EF1 tornado with peak winds of 80-90 mph struck near Bangor in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado traveled a 1.5-mile path up to 100 yards wide, primarily following Route 191 just south of Bangor. Significant property damage occurred, including to a township public works barn and numerous trees, though no injuries have been reported. The tornado formed as part of a larger severe weather event that affected eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, causing tornado warnings and widespread wind damage. Officials are still assessing the full extent of the damage. More detailed reports are expected later in the week.
