Two Men Escape ICE Facility During Power Outage
Two men, Joel Jose Gonzalez-Gonzalez and Geilond Vido-Romero, escaped from the ICE detention facility in Aurora, Colorado, during a power outage on Tuesday night. The escape went unnoticed until after midnight, with local police not being informed until 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. ICE claims they notified local authorities immediately, but Aurora Police dispute this, stating they were only informed hours later. Both men were detained pending deportation proceedings and remain at large. The Aurora Police Department has indicated they are available to assist in cases of active public safety emergencies but cannot engage in federal immigration enforcement. The search for the escapees continues, with ICE coordinating with state and federal law enforcement.
