UAE, Jordan Conduct Multiple Humanitarian Airdrops Into Gaza Amid Conflict
In response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have conducted multiple humanitarian aid airdrops into the Gaza Strip, including a significant 54th airdrop mission by the UAE under the 'Birds of Goodness' initiative. These efforts, coordinated with Israeli authorities and humanitarian organizations, aim to deliver essential food and relief supplies to isolated areas where land access is restricted. The Israeli military has implemented daily tactical pauses in fighting to facilitate the increased delivery of aid, with the goal of alleviating hunger for Gaza's 2.1 million residents. Despite these efforts, concerns remain about the safety and effectiveness of airdrops, as they have caused accidents in previous conflict zones, and are not considered a replacement for land-based aid. The World Food Programme has emphasized the importance of these pauses to enable the delivery of sufficient food aid, highlighting that it has enough resources to feed Gaza's population for nearly three months under current conditions. Both Jordan and the UAE reaffirm their commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance to Gaza in cooperation with regional and international partners.
