Messi's Inter Miami to Open Club World Cup

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami will kick off the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup against Egyptian club Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on June 15. The tournament features 32 teams and will take place in the U.S. from June 15 to July 13, culminating in a final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Other notable matchups include Manchester City facing Juventus and Chelsea taking on Flamengo. FIFA president Gianni Infantino emphasized the event's aim of inclusivity, despite criticisms regarding Inter Miami's inclusion as hosts, given their lack of success in the MLS playoffs. The tournament structure includes eight groups of four, with the top two teams from each advancing to knockout rounds.
