Walmart is expanding its rollout of Caroline's Carts, specially designed shopping carts that assist caregivers of children and adults with disabilities, to all stores in 11 states, including Arizona, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Each cart features an adjustable seat that can hold between 35 to 250 pounds, providing a more accessible shopping experience for those with mobility issues or temporary injuries. The initiative aims to enhance inclusivity in shopping environments, with plans to equip all Walmart Supercenters with two carts and Neighborhood Markets with at least one, totaling approximately 8,000 carts nationwide by early 2025. Cedric Clark, Walmart's Executive Vice President of Store Operations, emphasized the company's mission to support caregivers and families through this service. The introduction of these carts marks a significant increase in Walmart's investment in inclusive shopping since the inception of Caroline's Carts in 2012. Additionally, Walmart offers sensory-friendly shopping hours to further accommodate customers with special needs.
