One Battle After Another Leads Gothams with Six Nods
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another led the 35th Gotham Film Awards nominations with a record six nods, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, two Outstanding Supporting Performance nominations for Benicio Del Toro and Teyana Taylor, and a Breakthrough Performer nomination for Chase Infiniti. The Gotham Film & Media Institute expanded the Best Feature field from five to 10 films and removed a prior $35 million budget cap, allowing the big‑budget One Battle to compete alongside indie titles such as Hamnet, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Bugonia, East of Wall, Familiar Touch, Lurker, Sorry, Baby, The Testament of Ann Lee and Train Dreams. Other multiple nominees include Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet, Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just An Accident and Park Chan‑wook’s No Other Choice, with distributors Neon, A24, Mubi, Warner Bros. and Netflix among the most‑represented. The Gothams continue to use gender‑neutral performance categories, select nominees via committees of critics, journalists and festival programmers, and will have separate juries to determine winners. The awards and Tributes — including a Director Tribute for Noah Baumbach, an ensemble honor for Sinners, a Spotlight for Tessa Thompson and Vanguard recognitions — will be presented at a Dec. 1 ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York; notable buzz included Leonardo DiCaprio’s absence from lead performer nominations.
