CBFC to Certify Kangana Ranaut's Emergency Film
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has informed the Bombay High Court that Kangana Ranaut's film 'Emergency' will receive a certification if specific cuts suggested by its revising committee are made. The film, initially slated for a September 6 release, has faced delays due to objections from Sikh organizations over alleged misrepresentation and historical inaccuracies. The High Court criticized the CBFC for stalling the certification process, emphasizing that this could restrict freedom of speech. Zee Entertainment, the film's co-producer, has requested time to decide on the proposed cuts, and the next hearing is scheduled for September 30. Kangana Ranaut, who directed and stars in the film as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has claimed that the film is historically accurate and overseen by historians.
