ParaNorman Returns to Theaters in Remastered 3D for One-Week Halloween Run

LAIKA is re-releasing its acclaimed 2012 stop-motion animated film ParaNorman for a one-week theatrical run this Halloween season, with international premieres beginning October 23 and U.S. screenings starting October 25. Following the success of Coraline's 15th-anniversary re-release, which grossed $56 million worldwide, ParaNorman will be presented in newly remastered RealD 3D and 2D formats, accompanied by a new CG-animated short film titled ParaNorman: The Thrifting, featuring voices by Finn Wolfhard and Anna Kendrick. The film, which earned multiple awards and nominations including Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, tells the story of Norman, an 11-year-old boy who can see and communicate with ghosts as he tries to save his town from a witch’s curse and zombie apocalypse. LAIKA’s Chief Marketing & Operations Officer highlighted ParaNorman as an emotionally rich and visually daring film that blends horror and meaningful storytelling, making it an ideal family-friendly introduction to the genre. The re-release also marks the launch of LAIKA’s 20th Anniversary celebration, further emphasizing the studio’s commitment to repertory cinema and its cult fanbase. Industry partners Fathom Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing are supporting the distribution in the U.S. and international markets respectively, anticipating a strong audience response similar to Coraline’s theatrical revival.
