Nicholas Pooran Breaks T20 Runs Record

Nicholas Pooran has made history by surpassing Mohammad Rizwan's record for the most T20 runs in a calendar year, scoring 2,059 runs in 2024 after a 27-run performance against Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Pooran's achievement comes as he continues to showcase exceptional form, having already played for multiple teams in various leagues this year. The previous record held by Rizwan was 2,036 runs, set in 2021. Additionally, Pooran has become the first player to hit over 150 sixes in a calendar year, breaking Chris Gayle's previous record of 135. In the CPL match, Trinbago Knight Riders successfully defended a total of 175 runs, winning by 30 runs, thanks to contributions from Kieron Pollard and others. Pooran's remarkable feats highlight his status as one of the top T20 players in the world.
