World Table Tennis Launches WTT India To Boost Elite Events, Athlete Development

World Table Tennis (WTT), the commercial arm of the International Table Tennis Federation, has launched WTT Event Management India Private Limited (WTT India) to boost the growth of table tennis in India by hosting premier international events, supporting athlete development, and increasing fan engagement. The initiative, led by CEO Steve Dainton along with notable Indian figures such as Vita Dani and Achanta Sharath Kamal, aims to build a long-term ecosystem that brings professional table tennis closer to Indian athletes and audiences. India has joined an elite group of countries with domestic WTT entities, and the plan includes expanding the number and scale of events, potentially hosting marquee tournaments like the World Table Tennis Championships in the next three to five years. WTT India will complement existing Indian table tennis initiatives such as the Ultimate Table Tennis league, focusing on athlete-centric, performance-driven events alongside franchise-based formats. This strategic move aligns with the growing grassroots momentum, institutional support, and rising international recognition of Indian table tennis players. WTT’s global presence, broadcasting in over 180 countries, will help elevate the sport's profile in India and contribute to its transformation into a global table tennis hub.
