Mubi Expands Cannes Acquisitions with Panahi Film

Mubi has expanded its Cannes Film Festival acquisitions, securing international rights to several high-profile films, including Kleber Mendonça Filho’s political thriller 'The Secret Agent' for the U.K., Ireland, India, and much of Latin America, with Neon retaining North American rights. The company also acquired Mascha Schilinski’s 'Sound of Falling' for the U.S. and other territories following its acclaimed world premiere at Cannes. Additionally, Mubi picked up Jafar Panahi’s 'It Was Just an Accident' for several international regions, marking Panahi’s return to Cannes after his imprisonment, while Neon will distribute the film in the U.S. These acquisitions underscore Mubi’s strategic push to expand its arthouse and auteur-driven catalog globally.
