SpaceX to Launch First Private Spacewalk

SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission, set to launch on August 26, 2024, aims to achieve the first-ever private spacewalk with a crew of four, including billionaire Jared Isaacman. The mission is a collaboration between Isaacman and SpaceX, with funding from Isaacman's personal wealth gained through his company Shift4 Payments. The crew, which includes two SpaceX employees, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon, has undergone extensive training, amounting to 2,000 hours in simulators and various physical preparations. The Polaris Dawn mission will operate at an altitude of approximately 1,400 kilometers, significantly higher than the International Space Station, which is located at 400 kilometers. Isaacman, who previously led the all-civilian Inspiration4 mission, aims to advance private space exploration through this initiative. Elon Musk has expressed excitement about the upcoming launch, marking a significant milestone in commercial space travel.
