Mumbai man arrested

Mohammad Aziz Mohammad Nisar Khan, a 36-year-old man from Behrampada, Mumbai, has been arrested by the Nirmal Nagar police for harassing at least 25 women by sending obscene audio clips and making lewd phone calls. The incidents came to light when a 30-year-old housewife reported receiving an obscene call on June 14, which led to a series of explicit messages from Khan. Police investigations revealed that Khan, who operates a paratha shop and lives alone in Mumbai while his family resides in Uttar Pradesh, used multiple mobile phones and unsecured WiFi networks to carry out the harassment. The authorities have charged him under the Information Technology (Prevention) Act and IPC Section 509. Despite his minimal education, Khan displayed a significant understanding of mobile technology, complicating efforts to trace him initially. He has been remanded into police custody as investigations continue to identify any additional victims.
