Rob Burrow MND Centre Opens in Leeds

News summary

The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease has opened at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds as the UK’s first purpose-built facility dedicated to MND care, research, education and holistic support. The £6.8m centre was funded after a public fundraising campaign led by Leeds Hospitals Charity, heavily supported by former team-mate Kevin Sinfield and more than 17,000 donors. The project grew out of Burrow’s 2019 diagnosis and was a long-held ambition of Burrow and his consultant Dr Agam Jung; Burrow died in June 2024 and his family, including wife Lindsey and son Jackson, attended the opening. Led by Dr Jung as director and designed with input from patients, families and clinical specialists, the centre includes clinical rooms plus community, activity, dining, reading and quiet spaces. It is intended as a flagship for the North of England to improve dignity, care pathways and support for people living with MND and their families.
