Pete Davidson Reveals Naivety During Early SNL Audition

Pete Davidson revealed that when he auditioned for Saturday Night Live (SNL) at age 20, he didn’t realize the show was still airing and was not an avid viewer, leading him to look up sketches on YouTube during his tryout. Despite his unfamiliarity, his candid, youthful style helped him secure a spot on the show, where he worked alongside much older and more experienced cast members. Davidson described his early SNL years as being very naive but acknowledged the hard work of his colleagues who had more comedy experience. After departing the show in 2022 following eight seasons, Davidson gained a newfound respect for SNL's legacy and influence after attending its 50th anniversary special, calling it the "Harvard of comedy." While he initially criticized the anniversary audience, he later recognized the show as a prestigious institution in the comedy world. Davidson is also expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.
