Kickl to Form Government After Nehammer Resigns

Herbert Kickl, leader of Austria's far-right Freedom Party, has been tasked by President Alexander Van der Bellen to form a new government, following the resignation of conservative Chancellor Karl Nehammer. This move marks the potential formation of the first far-right-led government since World War II, as attempts to form a centrist coalition failed. The Freedom Party won 28.8% of the vote in the September elections, surpassing Nehammer's Austrian People's Party.
