King Felipe and Queen Letizia Unveil Portraits

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain recently unveiled new portraits taken by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary and Felipe's 10th anniversary as king. The portraits, commissioned by the Bank of Spain, feature the couple in the lavish Gasparini Hall of the Royal Palace and are part of a new exhibition titled 'Tyranny of Cronos' in Madrid. Queen Letizia donned a stunning black strapless gown by Cristóbal Balenciaga, accessorized with Queen Ena's Diamond Riviere necklace and earrings, while King Felipe appeared in a military uniform. The portraits showcase a blend of modern photography and royal tradition, with the royal couple's attire reflecting their status and heritage. The images, taken in February 2024, will be displayed at the Bank of Spain from November 27, 2024, to March 29, 2025. This marks a significant moment as it is the first time in over a century that the portraits of Spanish royals have been captured in such a contemporary style.
