Harlem fire injures four firefighters, over 180 respond
A significant fire broke out in a long-vacant building in Harlem at 108 West 139th Street on the night of February 5, 2025. The fire quickly escalated to a four-alarm blaze, with over 180 firefighters responding to the scene. Four firefighters sustained minor injuries, mainly sprains, strains, and one burn, and were treated at local hospitals. The fire threatened nearby occupied residences, but no civilian injuries were reported. The firefighting efforts were complicated by broken fire hydrants in the vicinity, but the fire was brought under control by 11:35 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by FDNY Marshals.
