Half Moon Cay Renamed RelaxAway, Expands Facilities

Half Moon Cay, a popular private island in The Bahamas, is set to be renamed RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, as part of a significant enhancement project led by Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line. The transformation will include a new pier allowing Carnival's larger Excel-class ships to dock directly, which previously could only access the island via tender boats. The island will be divided into a serene south side for Holland America guests and a vibrant north side for Carnival guests, featuring new dining venues, themed bars, and expanded lounging areas. Additionally, a tram service will be introduced for convenient transport across the island, with renovations expected to complete by summer 2026. Both cruise lines emphasize their commitment to preserving the island's natural beauty while enhancing the overall guest experience. The enhancements aim to attract more visitors while maintaining the appeal of the island's crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches.
