Ryan Giggs' Restaurant Collapse Leaves £478,000 Debt
Ryan Giggs' restaurant, George's Dining Room and Bar in Worsley, has gone into voluntary liquidation, leaving the business with an estimated £478,000 owed to creditors. The closure, which was effective as of February, was attributed to a significant reduction in trade and rising operational costs, exacerbated by the cost of living crisis. Giggs is personally owed £100,000 from his investment, while other debts include £117,000 to HMRC and substantial amounts owed to various suppliers. The restaurant opened in 2014 with Giggs’ childhood friends and aimed to establish Worsley as a culinary destination. Following its closure, the restaurant space will be revamped and reopened as a Mediterranean-themed eatery. Both Giggs and his business partners have expressed disappointment over the sudden failure of their venture.
