Cities Secure Federal Grants for Infrastructure Projects

Several U.S. cities have recently secured significant federal grants aimed at improving transportation infrastructure and safety. Nashville received approximately $12 million in SMART grants to implement LiDAR technology for enhancing traffic flow and safety on local roads, with promising results already evident. In Lincoln, a major grant will fund improvements to rail crossings and intersections, focusing on reducing collisions and enhancing accessibility. Oklahoma City is set to benefit from a $19.5 million grant to enhance public transit facilities, complementing a previously approved $97 million investment. Charlotte has been awarded $31.4 million to support various infrastructure projects that enhance connectivity and safety in underserved neighborhoods. Additionally, Norfolk is advancing its Local Intermodal Network Connection project with federal funding aimed at improving pedestrian and biking pathways, contributing to community accessibility.
